Position Description:
We are looking for a visionary leader to lead a strong, established youth ministry with Junior High and Senior High students in an energetic university town. We currently have 30-40 youth attending weekly with over 80 youth active in the church during the last year. This ministry has MASSIVE POTENTIAL. Only about 5% of the youth in our two High Schools and 4 Junior High Schools currently attend any church.

First Christian is looking for a leader to effectively reach and disciple youth who already know Christ and the creative ability to lead youth and their families in our community who do not know Jesus to a lifelong relationship with Christ and the church.

First Christian’s student pastor must have the ability to work as a team player with other staff, college age students, adult youth volunteers, parents and many different generations of members and families of multiple racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

We are looking for someone who has a strong teaching gift, ability to mentor and to be mentored, possessing vision for increasing the number of youth serving Christ, someone with a servant’s heart, the ability to relate to all ages of members in the congregation and community. The Student pastor oversees the budget planning and expenditure process, works daily with other staff and church members, ability to involve youth and their families in the church and serve in the community and church, understands planning and organizational process, must be a vibrant part of the community and exhibits a deep faith in Christ, and can build a ministry around Christ alone.

The youth currently meet weekly on Wednesday evenings, Sunday mornings, have a weekly bible club at one Junior high, work collaboratively with Young life and FCA, attend summer camp, participate in short term mission opportunities, attend youth concerts and events.

We are looking for a mature believer who has a proven track record in growing a large youth ministry and showing success in taking a youth group to the next level and helping kids find Christ and be active in the church.
