Associate Pastor
Calvary Baptist Church

I. Purpose/Objectives

To work alongside the Pastor on a full-time basis in order to aid in all aspects of church life and performance of his responsibilities, including helping to lead Sunday morning worship, implementing necessary policies and programs, working towards the goals associated with the Mission Statement of Calvary Baptist Church.

Specifically, in addition to the above the Associate Minister will focus in the following areas:

Youth: To guide, nurture and disciple youth with solid biblical instruction so that they become mature in Christ, equipped future leaders and servants of Jesus Christ, able to handle life issues as well as to be able to counsel others with sound biblical advice.

Evangelism and Discipleship: To develop relationships with the membership of the church and the community for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship, including the outreach across multi-cultural lines to help to win the unsaved to Christ

Music: To plan, direct and implement music for worship including the recruiting, training, and coordinating of volunteer musicians and singers

Finally, the Associate Pastor will meet with the Pastor on an agreed-upon, regular basis for prayer and to report on activities in his area of responsibility.

Although the Associate Minister may work with various committees within the church, the Pastor and Deacons shall be the ultimate authority in deciding whether a policy, program or direction is appropriate.

II. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

A. Youth
1) To plan and direct all Youth Programs of the Church, (including the organization and development of such a program as none exists at the present).

2) To involve youth from the Sunday School and community in other youth activities

3) To plan a calendar of Youth Activities with the approval of the Pastor.

4) To develop a comprehensive and detailed budget for the operation of the Youth program.

5) To cooperate and interact with other children’s ministry efforts for which he is not directly responsible, (e.g. Sunday School, 5-Day Club, etc.)

6) To include the youth of the church in Sunday morning worship services

7) To teach youth about Service, (as a necessary consequence of grace and a changed life), and to provide the opportunity and environment to serve.

8) To keep the parents of the youth well-informed through letters and reports.

9) To create and support a safe and fun environment where children will want to bring their friends and learn more about the Gospel message.

B. Discipleship and Evangelism

1) To represent Calvary Baptist Church to the larger community at all times.

2) To provide leadership and oversight for evangelistic and discipleship ministries at Calvary Baptist Church to meet church and community needs.

3) To equip the church body to fulfill the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 through the recruiting, training and support of volunteer works in the church and community.

4) To provide leadership in local outreach ministries

5) To organize and implement a ministry of visitation of church visitors and new residents.

6) To provide leadership in assimilating new attendees and teaching new believers.

7) To spend time on school campuses and other relevant environments where youth congregate.
