Position Description: FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH LEITCHFIELD PASTOR PROFILE The purpose of this profile is to help a prospective pastor in understanding what the church seeks in its new leader. The stated mission of our is church is to reach people and bring them to Jesus, to teach them God’s Word, and to grow them in Christ-like maturity so they will go share God’s love in order to magnify Christ. Preaching Preaching is the cornerstone of what a pastor does even though that may not be what takes up the most of his time. We believe to be an effective preacher is a gift given by God through His Holy Spirit. While important, we understand the “what” and “how” of preaching comes from God and we would not try to unduly influence that process. We trust that God’s message can be presented in new and exciting ways to win the lost to Christ. Spiritual Development of Members After salvation what? We understand our responsibility to old and new Christians alike. Each of us is at a different place in our “walk” and need teaching and encouragement to progress toward Christian maturity. A pastor would necessarily aid in this process. Provide Leadership A pastor should provide leadership without being the boss. We want to be a part of God’s plan and in that we need help. A pastor should develop, encourage and empower new and old leaders in the church to “get the job done.” We don’t feel a pastor has to do everything; he has to have help. We want to help. Personal Evangelism and Soul Winning A pastor should be competent in the arena of personal evangelism and comfortable in the one-on-one of sharing God’s work in his life. Again, individual church members should share this task and the pastor can help in this process. There could be many other items on a pastor “wish list.” Those might include: under God’s guidance and direction, the possessor of a strong prayer life, comfortable ministering to all age groups, compassionate, a visionary, and God-led, to name a few. We understand that pastors, just like all other Christians, have differing gifts and we accept that. The bottom line is we want the exact man God wants for First Baptist Church in Leitchfield and have full faith and confidence He will send him to us.

Church Description: First Baptist Church of Leitchfield, KY seeks for their senior pastor a visionary leader who is called by God to minister to people of all ages. This position requires strong communication and leadership skills, including the willingness to empower others to lead and to work with other ministers on staff. This energetic, dynamic man has a passion for community evangelism and soul winning as well as a loving, caring heart for guiding the spiritual development of others.
